Employers can request the medical checkup report from helpers directly. Helpers whose work permits have been approved are certified fit for work.

Should I provide food allowance or share the food with my helper?

Why is there no start date on the employment contract?

There is no start date on the employment contract as the official start of employment is aligned with the day the helper's work permit is issued.

What happens if it does not work out with the helper I hired and I want to replace her?

What is the security bond?

A security bond is a binding pledge to pay the government if either you or your helper breaks the law or Work Permit conditions.

When would my security bond be forfeited?

The security bond is forfeited when certain regulations are breached. This happens on extremely rare circumstances.

What is the monthly levy?

The monthly levy is a monthly tax that has to be paid to the government in Singapore when employing a helper.

Employers are eligible for the $60 levy concessionary rate if they meet certain criteria.

What is the GIRO account and how will the levy be deducted?

The monthly levy for employing a helper is automatically deducted through the GIRO account every on the 17th of the following month.
