How do I set up a bank account for my helper?

Helpers who have their work permit newly issued now have a POSB bank account automatically set up. Helpers without one can set it up online.

As part of the collaboration between MOM, POSB Bank and Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE), your helper will automatically have a POSB bank account set up and receive a new POSB bank card if she does not have an existing bank account in Singapore, upon issuance of a new work permit. The card and bank account details should arrive by mail within 14 working days.

Under this collaboration, your helper does not need to make any initial deposit, and there is no minimum average daily balance to be maintained each month. 

It is recommended that employers transfer their helper’s salary directly into her bank account, to ensure monthly payment records that can be easily verified.  For helpers whose work permits have already been issued and do not currently have a bank account, more information on setting up one with POSB can be found here
