What does the 6 months medical checkup cover?

Information on the mandatory medical checkup every 6 months

As per MOM regulations, all helpers employed here have to attend a medical checkup every 6 months (6ME). This 6 months starts from when her very first work permit is issued, not when her work permit is issued for each new employer. As such, if you are hiring a transfer helper, depending on when her last checkup was, her next checkup might be due within less than 6 months from the day she transfers to your employment.

The 6ME screens for pregnancy and infectious diseases such as syphilis, HIV and tuberculosis. Your helper is able to visit any GP clinic for this checkup, and it costs between $25 to $40. Please note that medical checkup costs are not covered under the helper insurance, and have to be borne by the employer.

You will receive a notification letter and 6ME form by post a few weeks before your helper's 6ME is due. You must send her for the 6ME before the due date.
